CAN according to its statement in a letter forwarded to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on May 4th by its General Secretary, Joseph Daramola, the infectious disease control bill should not be passed into law in the national interest.

“However, should you insist that there is merit in this unacceptable bill, we insist that this bill should pass through public hearing,” Daramola noted.

CAN further urge the legislators to allow God to have his way instead of pushing forward such kind of bill which has been condemned by citizens on numerous occasions.

The Christian body challenged the House to do away with the bill which it  described as “controversial, nebulous and obnoxious bill into law in the overall interest of Nigerians.”

CAN added, “This bill is not what is currently being expected from the House of Representatives, but rather, the development of the vaccines that will stop this COVID-19 pandemic from the further killing of our citizens,”

Meanwhile, the federal government has declared it is not considering a reduction in the 7.5 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) expected to be paid by Nigerians.
