How To Improve On Abia IGR And Block Loopholes – Iroegbu Emenike Tells Gov. Otti | WATCH VIDEO
On the heels of the suspension of all collection of levies from transporters by the Abia state governor, Dr. Alex Otti, the Publisher of ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER (AFNEWS) and the president South East Media Professionals Group Emenike Iroegbu, has lauded the governor for his decision, while advising him to ensure that all forms of revenue collection are automated in the state.
He noted that automation of revenue collection will shun double taxation and also encourage Abians and residents to pay their tax as at when due.
“All those money touts collect; the one that ends in government’s purse maybe 10 or 20%, most of the money goes into individual’s pockets; people who are claiming to be the government.
“The idea of suspending all transport levies is very okay, lets suspend them first so that the government will sit and look at the best method to apply in revenue collection
“The government can apply automation method, wherein the process will be digitised and money goes directly into government’s purse. If the government wants to use agent revenue collection, let the agents be compliant with ICT and know how to implement digital platforms to make revenue payment easy and also reduce human interference” Iroegbu said while featuring on Love FM Programme “Political Aproko” on Thursday.
AFNEWS publisher also charged the government to educate transporters on automated revenue payment and also pull the touts who engage in manual collection of revenue, out of the street.
Iroegbu further advised that the government should train the trainable ones on automation and others should be enshrined into the governor’s proposed MSME fund scheme to help them get self employed.
“ensure that you apply automation in all sector of revenue collection, let human interference be reduced” he added.
