Sequel to the threat posed by the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic in the first quarter of 2020, management of Gregory University Uturu reacted appropriately, thus evolving multiple approaches geared towards preventing and mitigating the harsh consequences of the global scourge.
With the immediate establishment of a COVID-19 research team constituted by erudite scholars with many years of industry experience in disease control, pharmacology and pharmacogenetics, scholarly investigations were launched in earnest. Result was the discovery of such preventive and curative drugs as ‘Sniff-Sniff’ and ‘Adonis Yellow’, which on approval by relevant government regulatory agency, will add impetus to the onslaught against COVID-19.
Also, with the production of such preventive devices as pedal powered hand washing machines, sanitizing Chambers, branded facemasks and alcohol based handitizers, the university has continued to set the pace in the task of proactive management of the pandemic thereby keeping her campuses free from COVID-19 infestation.
A visitor to the recent 9th matriculation ceremony of the institution would have observed various strategies deployed by the university management to ensure strict compliance to operative safety measures. From the first gate visitors to the many campuses are subjected to temperature checks, hand washing and Sanitization bouts before being granted access to the event venue. The compulsory facemask wearing campaign is personally championed by the Chancellor and Founder of the university Prof Gregory Ibe, who regularly embarks on unscheduled checks to enforce the practice on campus, with non-compliance attracting dire consequences.
With these measures in place, Gregory University Uturu has definitely added health impetus to her already established status as the most conducive environment for knowledge transfer.
