The media aide to Dr Alex Otti, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma has described the government of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu as highly ridiculous, lacking vision, capacity and seriousness to steer the affairs of the state, and called for the sack of the administration come 2019.
Mr Ekeoma who spoke during Abia Facts’ political program ‘The Focus’ berated the state government for failing to deliver on any promise made to the people of Abia, making it difficult for them to be trusted with another mandate.
“Take a tour around Abia and see the number of abandoned projects that they have littered the state with; the Osisioma flyover is a forgone project with no hope of completion anytime soon; Umuahia the state capital is littered with waste, despite the governor being the former deputy director of the states’ waste management agency, he has failed to use his experience to make Abia clean.
“The only thing they are more concerned about is the signing of meaningless Memorandum of Understandings (MOU’s) with agencies of the federal government and international bodies, of which they have not shown commitment on their own part,” He said
When probed further on the security of Abians under the present dispensation, Mr Ekeoma quoted statistics of crime rate under the present administration, saying that the rate of crimes committed in the state has increased from barely 300o in 2014 to over 12000 in 2018 (being the highest in the Southeast), making it clear that Abia is unsafe among other states in the east
On the issue of the Enyimba Economic City Project, Mr Ekeoma accused the state government of embarking on a poorly conceptualized white elephant project, accusing the governor of failing to ensure transparency in the award of contracts and entrenchment of due process.
Mr Ekeoma who took his time to rubbish the issue of equity by saying “between 1999 and 2015, the people from the south have always been contesting elections, and there has never been a time when it was said that if they had won, they wouldn’t be sworn in due to the zoning agreement.”
We cannot continue to excuse failure just for the sake of equity. That is nonsense! These people have failed to deliver on any promise they made to Abians and should never be rewarded with any more time in power to avoid the state becoming insolvent.
This government has received enough funds from the federal government, through the bailout funds and Paris club refund but has continued to owe salary and pension arrears to the tune of 13 months. We cannot reward their failure in power with another four treacherous years”
