EMEFIELE: EFCC Rejects Court Judgement, Reveals Next Line Of Action | READ MORE
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has expressed dissatisfaction with a judgment of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, in Abuja, awarding N100 million damages against it in favour of a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER (AFNEWS) had reported that Justice O.A Adeniyi, on Monday, January 8, 2024 fined the anti-graft agency for violating Emefiele’s fundamental human rights by detaining him unlawfully without trial.
Rejecting the judgement, the EFCC in a statement, said “the decision failed to take cognizance of the fact that the former CBN boss was held with a valid order of court.”
EFCC added that it will appeal the court’s judgement.
“Consequently, the Commission will approach the Court of Appeal to set it aside” the statement added.
