We humans tend to not know the value of what we have till it is lost. Like someone said, we lose the moon while counting the stars.
I still remember two years ago how Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu and Prof Isaac Adewole worked to ensure the bill that established the NCDC was drafted, heard and assented by President Buhari.
I chose to remember the efforts of these men in moments like these when every public official is accused of not contributing to the development of our health sector.
Particularly, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa who was labeled ‘the frying pan Senator’ by the media to ensure his constituents replaced him with the current Emir of Ikoyi prison who has successfully completed his first 100 days in office.
Of the trio, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu who worked effectively during that period is still serving and doing his best.
God bless them, and may their efforts never be in vain in the face of this pandemic.
Remember to stay safe!
