Chief Iheanyi Frank Chinasa has praised Governor Alex Chioma Otti for overseeing what he described as a “peaceful, free, and fair” Local Government election in Abia State. Lauding the governor’s efforts, Chief Chinasa noted that the election, which was held across the state, stands as a milestone for grassroots democracy, fostering the engagement and empowerment of rural Abians.
According to Chief Chinasa, the success of the November 2, 2024, election exemplifies a commitment to genuine democratic values that ensure every political party is afforded an equal opportunity. He extended his congratulations to Deacon Uwabunkeonye Bassey and Mrs. Ngozi Anya of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), who emerged as Chairman-elect and Deputy Chairman-elect of Bende Local Government Area, respectively.
“Governor Otti’s dedication to democracy has given Abians the confidence to participate fully in local governance,” Chief Chinasa remarked. He further applauded the people of Bende for their enthusiasm, noting the large voter turnout and collective support for the ZLP ticket of Deacon Bassey and Mrs. Anya, which, he asserted, signifies their trust in this leadership duo.
The Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), chaired by Prof. George Chima, confirmed the election results, revealing that the Young Progressives Party (YPP) won in two Local Government Areas, while ZLP dominated with victories in 15 LGAs, including Bende.
Chief Chinasa encouraged the new council leaders to embrace Governor Otti’s transformative agenda, stressing that they should focus on development initiatives that would positively impact rural communities. He urged Deacon Bassey and his team to work diligently to bring quality leadership to Bende and ensure that every resident feels the benefits of this new administration.
