The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has gotten one win in the Fundamental Human Right suit filed before a High Court sitting in Abia State.
Special Counsel to Kanu/IPOB, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor had in August, 2021, filed a Human right suit before the court requesting the court to prescribe as illegal the military invasion carried out in Afaraukwu Umuahia, Kanu’s country home in 2017 , among other requests.
Justuce Ben Anya of the Abia High court is expected to give judgement today, Wednesday, January 19, 2022 on the suit.
The Judge ruled against the FG challenging the court’s jurisdiction to hear the matter.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Barrister Ejimakor wrote:
“Breaking; MNK wins as Abia High Court Rejects Nigerian Government’s challenge to its jurisdiction to hear Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Fundamental rights suit. Judgement on other issues still in progress.”
