BREAKING [Abia 2023]: Abia Founding Fathers Reveals Why Isuikwuato District Deserve Governorship Seat Amidst Opposing Voices

0

The Founding Fathers of Abia State has said that the Isuikwuato District under Abia North Senatorial Zone, is the rightful people for the 2023 Governorship position.

The ASFF also maintained that the 2023 governorship ‘candidacy should be based on merit, verifiable track records of achievements in public and private capacity, Integrity and the ability to take critical decisions at critical times’.

The Founding Fathers made this revelation on Tuesday, July 13 in a press conference chaired by their Chairman Dr. O.J. Onyike (Enyi Abia) monitored by ALL FACTS NEWSPAPERS.

According to them, the Umuahia Senatorial Zone, Abia South Senatorial Zone and Isuikwuato District agreed on the Charter of Equity and made a request to the National Assembly for the creation of Abia state from the old Imo state.

“they accepted the equity and equality of all the Senatorial zones and Isuikwuato District. Thus according to the Charter of Equity, the governorship that is rotatory, should have gone from the now Abia North Senatorial Zone to Abia Central Senatorial Zone and then to Isuikwuato District, (which did not happen) before Abia South Senatorial Zone” they explained.

The ASFF further said;

“it is rather unfortunate that the Governors did not follow any stipulated order of rotation, thereby rubbishing the guidelines of the charter of equity and the good intentions of the Abia State Founding Fathers (ASFF).

“that no eyebrows were raised by anybody or group of people like the good people of Isuikwuato, who were sidetracked in the process, about the distortion of this laid down rotation order in the charter of equity, did not meant that the anomaly was not noticed by anybody. Particularly the ASFF.

The charter of equity is intended among other objectives to alley the fear of domination of one senatorial zone/district over the  other or any form of marginalization in the governance of the state.

“it therefore becomes absolutely necessary to caution that no political exigency or partisanship should ever be allowed to enact any of the above dreaded fears. Thereby jettisoning the enviable adorable name of Abia state as God’s Own State” they warned.

The Fathers expressed worry over the heated polity in the state and nation at large as 2023 election approaches, noting that they are working behind the scenes with other Igbo leaders to ensure that sanity returns.

“the Abia State Founding Fathers strongly feel and pray for a united Nigeria, in which the Ndigbo will produce the next president come 2023 general elections as of right and for functional equity and fair play to prevail.

“it is also our fervent prayer that the same justice, equity and fair play would prevail in Abia state during 2023 general elections whereby the  next governor of the state will be produced by the Isuikwuato district.

“it therefore behooves all political parties in Abia state to field their governorship candidates from Isuikwuato District as deserved.
