Able Child Model School Wins Quiz Competition Organised By Progressive Abia Youths
The maiden edition of quiz competition organised by the Ukwa West Local Government Area Chapter of the Progressive Abia Youths (P.A.Y) was on Friday, November 25, 2022 wrapped up with Able Child Model School, Obehie emerging as the overall winner of the competition.
The quiz competition had commenced on November 22, 2022 with many schools participating in the highly contested competition. The grand finale of the competition which held at Central School Obehie also saw the emergence of; Whitefield Academy, Umuiku Isi Asa in Ukwa West LGA as the second runner up, while Ozar Community Secondary School, Umuadienwe emerged first runner up.
Speaking at the event, the President General of Progressive Abia Youths, Comrade Ekejiuba Daberechi Kingsley, harped on the need for education to be prioritized for a better and secured future for Nigeria.
He noted that children play important roles in the family and encouraged them to task their parents and guardians to ensure that they lay a foundation for a better future by electing the right persons into office especially as the 2023 general election approaches.
In his words;
“Dear Students, the journey to select those who will shape your future and the future of our country has started. 2023 is another election year and we want you to be aware, to know what is at stake. I charge you to work hard and be the best person you can be but above all, pay attention to what is happening around you.
“Children play crucial roles in the lives of their parents and today, I charge you to demonstrate that influence by speaking to your parents and guardians. When you get home today, tell them that your future is at stake in 2023. Tell them not to sell their votes to the bad leaders. Tell them to come out and vote to give you a better country”.
Kingsley also lauded the students for their performance at the competition, encouraging them to prioritize their education and make their parents proud.
The President, Progressive Abia Youths, Ukwa West Chapter, Comrade Kenneth Nwankwo in his closing remarks, thanked the various schools for their boldness and confidence in accepting the challenge to throw their hats into the ring of intellectual competition adding that “this quiz competition is sustainably designed to enable Ukwa West students know their weaknesses and buckle up”.
The students were gifted writing materials, School Bags, certificate of participation and cash prizes.
The quiz competition is part of the series of programs packaged by the Progressive Abia Youths in various local government areas of the state.
