The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency at the national assembly, Honorable Sam Onuigbo, on Thursday February 24th, 2022 commissioned Ahia Ama Market and Borehole project facilitated by him to Obuohia Obi-Ibere, in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State.
While commissioning the projects, the Hon. Member said that of all the things he has attracted to Obuohia community, the market stalls and borehole were perhaps the closest to his heart as it was a direct request from mothers and wives from the community of which him and his wife lived most of their period of growth in.
In his words “we had big dreams about this market and we set out to push those dreams and reignite the magical beauty and control of the market in a bigger way as it was in the 90’s when people were coming from Nkari, Olokoro, Ariam, Amizi and Umuahia to buy garri.”
He said that though the dreams were halted, however, he hopes that in the nearest future, those dreams will be realized without antagonism.
He urged them to take proper care of the stalls, the borehole and their surroundings, being hospitable to customers and other traders from outside Obuohia and encouraged the youths to provide security for everyone and their properties.
He thanked the entire community development union (National Women’s Wing) for reminding him of this responsibility, the National Executive of O.D.U (Obuohia Development Union) led by Chief Sam Eke, PhD, O.D.U Home Branch under the leadership of Elder Sunday Otuu for demonstrating their preparedness to serve as well as men and youths of the community, even as he pledged to do more.
Speaking to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER, the Hon. member expressed his happiness that work has started on the Ikwuano/Ikot Ekpene road, and charged the constructor to sustain the speed to which they started and also fix the failed sections around Ogwe and Okweebila to allow for easy passage of vehicles.
On the other hand, wife of the Hon. Member, Pastor Princess Chinyere Onuigbo who was in attendance thanked the women for the support and push they have given to her and the husband towards facilitating and commissioning of the projects. She charged the constituents to continue praying for them.
Speaking on behalf of the women, Mrs Akachukwu Glory who doubles as the National Vice President and the Village Women Leader applauded the Honorable member for the projects asserting that ” Odozi Obodo” as he’s fondly called is a gift to them from God.
She recounted other good gestures of Onuigbo which includes; awarding scholarships to their children, women’s uniform bought and sewn by him, and the transformer situated at the market, amongst others.
Similarly, Elder Sunday Otuu thanked Onuigbo for the project and urged him not to relent in making sure that the Ikwuaono/Ikot Ekpene road is speedily constructed before the raining season sets in.
