Abia Orientation Intensifies Effort, Inspects Monthly Sanitation Compliance, Preaches New Abia Ideologies

The Abia State Orientation Agency (ABSOA) has intensified effort towards educating Abians and residents in Abia State of the importance of cleanliness, while equally inspecting the level of compliance towards the regular monthly sanitation that held the 25th of May 2024.

The ABSOA inspection team which was led by the Deputy General Manager Ure Abazie, took a tour of public facilities within Umuahia Central Area educating, preaching the New Abia message and outlining the health benefits of a clean environment and the negative impact that comes with dirty environment.

When the team which also includes Chidinma Okpara (ABSOA Secretary), Blessing Obiakor (ABSOA Director of Finance) and Idoko Daniel (ABSOA Head Media) visited the popular Aba and Ochendo parks along Aba Road in Umuahia, the team discovered that workers in the park were fully engaged in the clean-up exercise. The workers also assured that they will continue making sure there working environment is clean for the benefit of passengers, drivers and conductors.

While interacting with the workers at the parks, the workers requested for the asphalting of the parks, provision of public convenience, borehole and flood light within the park. They posited that if provided, it will make the parks more effective, secured and travelers friendly.

The team which also spent time interacting and supporting in the cleanup exercise at the popular Isigate junction, also visited the abattoir and chicken market along the railway line close to Bank Road. At the market, they assembled the traders who were cleaning up the market and advised them on the need to dispose waste properly to avoid a pandemic.

“We must make sure we keep this market clean; Governor Otti has made cleanliness a priority in Abia State and we can not be left behind. This is a market where chicken is processed and we must not allow people to get contaminated here or eat contaminated food”

“Waste disposal is also very important, waste must not be dumped indiscriminately”, Ure Abazie advises.
