Abia Has Lost An Illustrious Son – Ude Oko Chukwu Mourns Ikonne
The deputy governor of Abia state, Right Honourable Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, has commiserated with the immediate family and the entire family of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state over the demise of Professor Uche Ikonne, the governorship candidate of the party.
Oko Chukwu in his commiseration message, regretted that Abia state and the PDP lost an illustrious son in Ikonne at a time when his services are needed for the good of Abia state. He charged all to take “solace in the fact that Professor Ikonne acquitted himself creditably and will be remembered for his solid contributions to the growth and development of our dear State in particular and Nigeria at large.”
“I,Rt.Hon.Sir Ude Oko Chukwu PhD, Deputy Governor of Abia State,on behalf of myself and my family, Management and Staff of the Office of the Deputy Governor, deeply identify and commiserate with my Boss and Governor of Abia State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu PhD,the Ikonne family of Agburuike Nsulu, the PDP family and indeed the entire people of Abia State on the demise of Distinguished Professor Eleazar Uche Ikonne, the immediate past Vice Chancellor of ABSU and the Gubernatorial Candidate of our great Party,PDP in the 2023 General Elections.
I must confess that the sad and heart-rending news of the passing of the erudite Professor of Optometry, came to me with immense shock and painful devastation and it will be stating the obvious that Abia State and the People’s Democratic Party have lost an illustrious son and personality at a time his services are further needed for our common good.
However,I enjoin all of us affected by the sad and painful development to take solace in the fact that Professor Ikonne acquitted himself creditably and will be remembered for his solid contributions to the growth and development of our dear State in particular and Nigeria at large.
It is my earnest prayer to God Almighty, who knows and determines the end of every mortal from the beginning,to grant the soul of Professor Ikonne eternal rest and give us all especially the wife and children the fortitude to bear the reality of his exit to the world beyond.
