… Set Up Committee To Review Her Bio Refiney Project

The Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu led administration has set up a committee to review the state government resolution to support the setting up of a bio refinery project in the state. The Bio-Refinery project according to source within the government will lead to tremendous growth in the GDP of Abia State. The expected accrual to the Abia State Government based on the agreed profit sharing will undoubtedly grow the economy of the state.
The committee was set up before the end of the Abia state Executive Council meeting held on. 22nd June 2020 at the Banquet Hall of the Abia state Government House Umuahia.while briefing newsmen at the end of the meeting , The Hon. Commissioner For Information Chief John Okiyi Kalu said the committee will be headed Dr Aham Uko as the Chairman and Chief Chijioke Madumere as secretary. Other members of the Committee are Engr Thomas Okoro and Dr. Chukwuma Agu and the Committee has four weeks to submit it’s report.
Investigation by AFNEWS revealed that The Bio Refiney Project will have Fertilizer as a by product which will aid in the growth of the agricultural sector, thereby boosting the GDP of the state. Furthermore, Energy generated by the Bio-Refinery will drive the industrialization of the state. This will lead to a robust growth of the Abia State GDP.
On the other hand , The Bio-diesel, Bio-fuel and recycling fuel including the Bio-gas production will boost the state GDP Economy as well as cutting CO2 emission down in the state and Nigeria.Abia State citizens will participate in the collection and supply of waste and raw material for the Bio-Refinery. Those who supply waste to the company will be paid as soon as the supply is made. In this way, thousands of jobs will be created.
Also during the State Executive Council (EXCO) Meeting presided by the Deputy Governor of the State Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, The state Executive Council among other things” observed one minute silence in honor of late Honorable Commissioner For Environment, Dr Solomon Ogunji who untill his death was a member of the State Council, The Exco also sent a goodwill message to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and all those undergoing COVID-19 infection management in the state and wished them quick recovery.”
The State Executive Council ” applauded Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and the members of the state inter-ministerial committee on COVID-19 over the successful launching of state-owned testing center at Abia State Specialist Hospital & Diagnostic Center, Amachara and another one that will soon open in Aba next week.”
On the need to further improve the road infrastructure facilities in the state, the state Executive Council ” reviewed and approved the following road projects as recommended by the Finance and General Purpose Committee (F&GPC):
a. Contract for construction of Ukwunwangwu/Ndudu (2.95 km) Road Phase 1, Uturu, Isuikwuato LGA.
b. Contract for the construction of Obiagu/Umuanyi (1.9km) Road, Uturu, Isuikwuato LGA.
c. Contract for the construction of Ukwunwangwu-Isunabo (1.8km) Road, Uturu, Isuikwuato LGA.
d. Contract for rehabilitation of Umuenyere Alayi-Item-Nkporo Road in Bende/Ohafia LGA (26km).
e. Contract for the construction of 2.5km Umuokwu/Ubaha Road (Leading to Dephilajoms Agro & Allied Industries (Nig) Ltd.
f. Contract for the construction/ rehabilitation of Adaelu-Unity Garden Estate Road (1.4km), Osisioma LGA.
g. Contract for the construction of Amapu Ntigha-Abam Ubakala Road in Isialangwa North and Umuahia North LGA’s (1.0km).
h. Contract for the construction of Apumiri Umuochi – Umuejeaya Mgarakuma – Ahiaorie Umuosu (3.2Km) Road in Umuahia south LGA.
i. Contract for the recontruction of Obioha Road, Aba South LGA (2.95km).
j. Contract for the reconstruction of Ohanku Road, Aba South LGA (5.3km).
k. Contract for variation: As a result of dualization/expansion of Ururuka Road from Ogbor-Hill Bridge to Umuobiakwa (13km).
l. Contract for rehabilitation of Obigbo – Aba Sports Club GRA, Aba (1.100Km).
m. Contract for Rehabilitation of Abak Road and PZ Road (0.760km).
n. Contract for the rehabilitation of Egbelu Railway Line – Aba/Owerri Roads, GRA, Aba.(1.244km).
o. Contract for the reconstruction of Ekeakpara Road from Osisioma Junction (3.5km).
p. Contract for the construction of Amaorji Osusu-Okpuala Ngwa-Amauzu Ovungwu-Ntigha Umukalu Road, and Spurs at Obikabia, Iheorji, Palace Aru-Egbelu and Umuosi-Ntigha Roads(15km), Isialangwa North and South LGAs.
q. Contract for the construction of Nbawsi Junction to Okpoala (St. Judges/Umunkolo Bypass), Isialangwa North LGA (2.0km).
r. Contract for the reconstruction of Chief Ubani Road, Aba North LGA(1km).
s. Contract for the variation/construction of Bende-Idima Abam Road in Bende and Arochukwu LGAs (8.1km).”
On the Need To strengthen internal security, especially at major boundary communities in the state, Chief John Okiyi Kalu said ” the ministry of homeland security was given approval to deploy modern electronic and digital technology to monitor and improve existing security structure in the state on pilot basis. The state Executive Council also approved the construction of a medical complex for New Born Babies at Mother & Child Specialist Hospital, opposite Central Police Station (CPS) along Bende road, Umuahia, with state-of-the-art equipment for diagnosis and management of patients.”
Other notable resolution and approval made by the State Executive Council at the meeting yesterday are the resolution on funding of COVID-19 related intervention activities through budgetary provisions. A resolution on funding for the completion of the JAAC building in Umuahia as well as counterpart fund for Universal Basic Education projects.
According to the press release by Chief John Okiyi Kalu, The State Executive Council was briefed on the long term development plan for the state, approval was given for its integration with the expected report from the post-COVID-19 committee while a review was made on the ongoing virtual learning program of the state ministry of education and approval was given for funds to be released to encourage , promote and sustain related projects
