Labour Party’s Ikechukwu Orunta is confident of victory in the Ikwuano Chairmanship race, with widespread grassroots support and a commitment to local development, as ABSIEC assures free and fair elections.
Chief Ikechukwu Nzeribe Orunta, the Labour Party Chairmanship aspirant for the November 2 local government elections in Abia State, has expressed confidence in his campaign for Ikwuano Local Government Area (LGA). Dismissing rumors that he was vying for the Deputy Chairman position, he confirmed his full commitment to the Chairmanship race.
Orunta highlighted his extensive grassroots support, especially from seven of the ten wards in Ikwuano, making him a formidable contender. He praised the assurances of a free, fair, and credible election given by the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) Chairman, Professor George N. Chima.
Known for his strong connection with the grassroots, Orunta’s campaign is centered on a commitment to economic growth, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development in Ikwuano. His manifesto is designed to complement the developmental blueprint of Governor Alex Otti, focusing on advancing the socio-economic transformation of the local government.
He is also advocating for equitable political representation for the Oboro clan, which commands a majority of wards in Ikwuano. He argues that the overwhelming support from the clan makes his candidacy the most equitable and just for the Labour Party in the upcoming elections.
In addition to praising ABSIEC for its transparency, Orunta commended Governor Otti for appointing credible individuals to oversee the electoral process, assuring voters that a victory for Labour Party in Ikwuano is certain, both in the primaries and the general election.
