Abia Commissioner Reveals Gov. Otti’s True Position On LGA Financial Autonomy
The Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Local Government affairs in Abia state, Hon. Prince Uzor Nwachukwu, has revealed the true position of governor Alex Otti on the much debated financial autonomy already granted to the Local Government by the Federal government.
Speaking in an exclusive interaction with ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER (AFNEWS), the Commissioner noted that governor Alex Otti is not interested in diverting monies meant for the local governments as it were during the past administrations, but is committed to seeing that the LGA funds are not pilfered by selfish individuals or group of persons, but are used for the development of LGAs.
In his words, “governor Alex Otti is not interested in diverting money voted for the local governments but he is committed to bringing investments and transformation into the Local governments.
” Financial Autonomy means that whatever money that has been voted by the federal government allocation committee goes and will be used in local governments. What has been playing out before is people cornering the money into their personal use”.
Nwachukwu hinted that governor Alex Otti will inject more funds into local governments and not use their monies for other things.
” Am aware that Dr Alex Otti has promised that he will even look for more money to invest into local governments and not using their money for other things” the Honourable Commissioner stated.
