The House of Representative Member-Elect for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency Honorable Amobi Ogah, has appreciated the Department Of State Services – DSS and the Nigerian Military for the swift action taken against Tony Otuonye for threatening electorates with violence if his preferred candidate does not win the 18th March gubernatorial election in Abia State.
Recall that few days ago, a video of Mr Tony Otuonye went viral on the social media. In the video, Otuonye was seen threatening to sacrifice any electorate that will not vote for his candidate or will want to stop his preferred candidate from emerging as governor of Abia State.
The statement of Otuonye who happens to be the Director of Abia State Signage and Advertisement Agency, angered a lot of Abia electorates who immediately called for his arrest.
In a press statement signed by the Honorable Member-Elect Chief Amobi Ogah, he congratulated the DSS and Military for taking the necessary steps to immediately restore the confidence of voters and enforce law and order.
“I want to deeply appreciate the DSS and Military for taking action, their action against Mr Otuonye has restored confidence of the voters and has also assured the voters that security operatives are out to protect them”
“Nobody should be allowed to intimidate Abia electorates; election is not war. Election is a democratic process through which we elect our leaders and it is not a do or die affair. Based on that, lets allow the electorates to vote whoever they want without intimidation or violence”
Ogah called on Abia electorates to stand behind Labour Party and Alex Otti. He revealed that the solution Abia desires is in Labour Party.
“I call on Abia electorates to make sure they conclude what they started on the 25th of February by voting Labour Party, Alex Otti on the 18th of March 2023. The new Abia of our dream is in the Labour Party” he concluded.
