Don Lulu Named Patron of Abia Online Media – Here’s Why It Matters

Mayor Lucky Igbokwe (Don Lulu) has been unveiled as a patron of the Abia Online Media Association. Learn why his selection is generating widespread attention across Abia’s media and development circles.

The Abia Online Media Association has officially unveiled Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu, as one of its newly appointed patrons—a recognition that reflects his exceptional contributions to media development, youth empowerment, and community transformation in Abia State.

Mayor Igbokwe, celebrated as an entrepreneur, philanthropist, media innovator, and United Nations Mayor of Peace, has steadily risen to become one of the most influential figures in the South-East. His unveiling as patron reportedly drew commendations from media stakeholders who described him as “a bridge between creativity, community, and development.”

Born in Umuawa Alaocha, Umuahia North LGA, Don Lulu’s journey into public impact began with a belief that wealth and influence must uplift society. Today, he sits atop a portfolio of thriving businesses under the Don Lulu Group—enterprises designed not only to generate profit but to stimulate local development.

His business empire includes:

Don Media Group (owners of Don FM 103.7 and Ikoro FM 93.3),

2Flame Entertainment,

Maldrain Farms and Industries with over 87 acres of agro-investment,

Lucion Towers Construction Company,

Green Peace Nigeria,

LuckyRain Energy Ltd,

Don Lulu Foundation — the humanitarian arm touching thousands of lives.

Across these platforms, Igbokwe demonstrates what he calls the Akuruo Ulo Principle — a philosophy that urges investment in one’s home state to strengthen communities and expand opportunities.

Media stakeholders particularly praised Don Lulu’s leadership in the broadcasting sector. Through Don Media Group, he established two radio stations that have become cultural and grassroots empowerment hubs.

Don FM and Ikoro FM have given young creatives, cultural custodians, and everyday citizens a voice. The stations have grown into platforms where storytelling meets development, and where emerging talent is nurtured.

His entertainment outfit, 2Flame Entertainment, has also played a major role in raising stars and promoting Abia’s creative industry on national and international stages.

Mayor Igbokwe’s philanthropic footprint is vast and impactful. Through the Don Lulu Foundation, he has:

Launched a ₦600 million agricultural support fund for rural youth and women

Given interest-free loans to market women and small businesses

Built free homes for vulnerable families

Renovated schools and provided study materials

Powered communities with transformers and streetlights

Promoted sports and peace through the Ohuhu Youth Unity Cup

Supported thousands during the “Abia Alive Youth Empowerment Concert” with grants, vehicles, and work tools

His humanitarian interventions remain some of the most consistent and well-structured within Abia’s private sector.

Don Lulu’s work has earned both national and international acclaim, including:

United Nations Mayor of Peace (2014) — youngest recipient in the South-East

Abia Businessman of the Year

NIPR Youth Icon Award

Pillar of the Youth Award

His brief political outing in the 2023 Abia PDP governorship primaries, where he emerged first runner-up, further demonstrated his popularity and grassroots acceptance.

Stakeholders of the Abia Online Media Association say Mayor Igbokwe’s unveiling as patron signals a strong alignment between media growth and community empowerment.

They describe him as “a leader deeply connected to his roots, committed to platforms that promote truth, culture, and youth development.”

For Don Lulu, the commitment remains the same: building platforms that amplify the stories and potential of Abia people.
