The Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSEIC) has announced an expanded stakeholder meeting to discuss final preparations for the state’s upcoming Local Government elections, set to take place on November 2, 2024. This important gathering is scheduled for Thursday, October 31, at ABSEIC headquarters in Ogurube Layout, Umuahia, and will bring together various stakeholders from across Abia to align on strategies for a transparent and smooth election process.
According to a statement signed by ABSEIC Chairman, Professor George N. Chima, the meeting aims to ensure all participants are prepared to support the effective administration of the elections, from logistics to security arrangements. The Commission underscored the importance of this pre-election briefing, urging all invited stakeholders to prioritize attendance as the state finalizes key aspects of the election day process.
“This meeting is critical to discussing our readiness for November 2, as well as identifying any areas needing immediate attention to avoid disruptions,” Professor Chima stated. With only days remaining before the polls, the October 31 briefing is expected to yield significant directives on coordinating efforts for the effective conduct of these elections.
