ABIA: Ikwuano Labour Party Members Protest Attempt To Impose List Of LGA Chairmen, Councilors On Them, Call On Gov. Otti To Act
Some leaders and stakeholders of Ikwuano Local Government Area Labour Party led by the LGA Party Chairman Honorable Bright Chimezie, has described the list of nominated LGA Chairmen and councilors that was purportedly submitted to the Honorable Commissioner of Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs as null and void.
The party faithful’s who stated this during an interaction with ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER, revealed that the process of nominating and putting together the list was not democratic and did not follow the instruction as stipulated in the circular that called for the nomination.
While speaking, the LGA Party Chairman narrated how he reached out to the House of Assembly member representing Ikwuano State Constituency Honorable Bonny Isienyi and other leaders, proposing for a stakeholder meeting, where they will democratically nominate those who will be shortlisted as Chairmen and Councilors for LGA as instructed by the circular and Governor Alex Otti OFR.
The chairman revealed that he was surprised when the Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture Professor Monica Ironkwe, now informed him via telephone conversation that Honorable Isienyi has submitted a list to her which has been forwarded to the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair Prince Uzor Nwachukwu.
The Ikwuano Labour Party Chairman Honorable Bright Chimezie, expressed displeasure with the lack of proper consultation and wondered how they manufactured his signature and that of the party LGA secretary which he gathered were on the submitted list.
The Chairman further stated that he later called a proper stakeholder meeting of the party in Ikwuano and have put together what he described as the authentic list.
The secretary of Labour Party in Ikwuano Mr Victor, called for investigation into how his signature and that of the LGA party chairman appeared on the said submitted list without their knowledge. He equally called for the intervention of the governor so that everything can be resolved amicably.
