The Abia state police command has expressed dissatisfaction with the news trending online that the NPF Recovered 5,000 guns in a Mosque In Aba.
The Abia state police commissioner CP Janet E. Agbede made this known to AFNEWS through a press release issued on behalf of the NPF Abia state command by the police public relations officer SP Ogbonna Geoffrey dated 19th May 2020.
Internet users wake up earlier this week to the trending news published in Nairaland that ”
Its no longer news in Aba that about 5000 ammunition’s were recovered in two mosques in Aba. The question now is why is no mainstream media reporting this; and why hasn’t the government issued a press release.May the Heaven saves us. Kudos to the State Government, who acted promptly on the intel. It is time we send the “lybian” back to “lybia”.
But SP Ogbonna Geoffrey while speaking on behalf of the police force said Abians and Nigeria in general should not panic as such news is intended to spread falsehood and deceive the public.
In his words ” there was no such recovery of fire arms neither were there any time arms were off-loaded into a Mosque by Hausa/ Fulani at the onions Market Uratta in the state “.
“Members of the public are advised to disregard the post for it is not just fallacious but also the hand work of propagandist aimed at string up non existing tension in the state”
Also the State police commissioner said the force is working on apprehending those spreading the false news.
