Fielding questions from journalists on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, after a closed door meeting with some northern elders- the Northern Alliance Committee in Abuja, the former Lagos state governor, said Nigerians have called on him to contest for the presidential seat, which he won’ refuse, however, he will consult widely and give Nigerians an answer.
Tinubu said he will brainstorm with his friends and chose a date to openly declare his intention to Nigerians.
“I’m not going to turn them (Nigerians) down, but I will still effectively and widely consult, particularly brainstorm with my friends and find a date to come out openly and tell Nigerians”.
“But the president is still in office, I don’t want to distract him from all the challenges that he might face today”.
“So we will consult and make our programme known to the people later and the intension is clear. So you keep guessing” Tinubu said.
On the other hand, the Chairman, Northern Alliance Committee, Ambassador Lawal Mohammed Munir, said the group resolved to endorse Tinubu expressing believe that he will win the presidential bid come 2023.
“The meeting ended very well. We are working for him. We are working for him because we know he will win the election when the time comes”.
