Mr Wisdom Uchechi Benjamin has sent an SOS message to the Government of Abia State and good spirited Nigerians to come to his rescue having suffered from a spinal cord break that incapacitated his life since 18th August 2015.
Mr Wisdom Uchechi Benjamin who spoke to AFNEWS narrated the alleged injustice that was dished out to him by HRM Eze Eberechi Dike who he claimed forced him out of his house into an accident that has incapacitated him since 2015.
According to Wisdom Benjamin a native of Umukereke village in Osaa Ukwu Autonomous Community,Obingwa LGA Abia State , Benjamin was before the accident a marketer for Enugu Electricity Distribution Company on contract basics and was able through the little money he was paid to take care of himself, his wife and a baby who as at 18th August 2015 was 8 months old only.
According to the story which he narrated to AFNEWS, He was at home around 7pm in the evening when HRM Eze Eberechi Dike, who is the traditional Ruler of Mgboko Ngwa Amaise Autonomous Community in Obingwa LGA called him on phone to immediately come out and reconnect the village electricity that was disconnected by Officers of EEDC for offense they have committed.
“I told him that it was late right now for that kind of operation since it was passed 7pm , moreover I was not the one who did the disconnection , it is wrong for me to reconnect the light without first verifying on what the offense that was committed is ” HRM Eze Eberechi Dike on hearing this was infuriated and started roaring and shouting ” that the village have a wake-keeping that night and can’t I see how every where is dark , he treatened to use his connection as the then Chairman of Abia State Traditional Rulers Council and South East Council of Traditional Rulers to get me arrested and put behind bars for daring to disobey his orders ”
It was the treat to get Wisdom Benjamin arrested that forced him out of his house to go and make effort to have the light reconnected back again “Eze Eberechi Dike insisted that some boys must accompanied me to the transformer immediately for the operation, which I accepted and headed to the transformer with them that night ”
The unfortunate news is that Wisdom Benjamin was electrocuted while attempting to reconnect the electricity, he fell down from the ladder, broke his spinal cord and was rushed to the closest hospital , at the hospital that night HRM Eze Eberechi Dike made an initial deposit of #50,000 and left while the treatment started “but that was the last I saw him, it was later when the management of EEDC came to visit me at the hospital that I was told that HRM Eze Eberechi Dike has promised to take care of my treatment untill when I will be free to stand and take care of myself.”
But unfortunately, HRM Eze Eberechi Dike failed to keep to his promise and that is the reason why i am letting the world to know about this, the Ex Chairman of Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers and South East Council of Traditional Rulers HRM Eze Eberechi Dike Abandoned me to myself after an additional deposit of #250,000 at the hospital and never showed up till date.
I have been bedridden since 18th August 2015, during this my incapacitating state that has lasted for over 4 years , I have lost my parents to death meaning i am an orphan without anyone to Carter for my needs , worst of it is that my wife left me “the moment the incidence happened, she took her belongings and left the house to settle with another man leaving the only baby with me who was as at then only 8 months , the only mud house we have in the village has collapsed ”
Mr Wisdom Uchechi Benjamin has within this 4 years incapacitated period while at the hospital spent every thing he has laboured to acquire in life before the spinal cord injury ” right now I have been sent away by the hospital to stay at home to continue with my recovery but I don’t know where to go. I have no one to run to , no job, no wife , no parents and without a shelter to put myself”
This possibly cannot be the end of life for Mr Wisdom Uchechi Benjamin, from Spinal cord injury to the alleged abandonment by HRM Eze Eberechi Dike who neglected his responsibility to treat him and make adequate provision for forcing him out to be electrocuted, to the death of his parents , how about the disappearing of the wife ? The 8 month baby who right now is grown up and need basic education ? To the mud house that has gone down completely, his story is a pathetic one.
According to Wisdom Uchechi Benjamin ” his hope and faith right now is on the Government and good spirited Nigerians , he seeks your help and support in whatever capacity you can to assist him with his recovery, most importantly accommodation, he is soliciting for support from Abia State Government and good spirited Nigerians to rent a one room apartment where he will stay with his child and Continue with his recovery process .
He is also soliciting with the Abia State Government to conduct an investigation into the issue so as to compel HRM Eze Eberechi Dike to do what is essential , he irrespective of his position should take full responsibility for the recovery of Mr Wisdom Uchechi Benjamin. No Traditional Ruler is above the law and no one can get away with actions such as this.
Efforts to reach Eze Eberechi Dick proved abortive as at press time.
