Why Jurgen Klopp Is Not My Friend – Guardiola
Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has dismissed reports of friendship with his colleague, Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool coach.
The Spaniard’s confession comes after a 2-2 draw showdown with his counterparts’ side.
Sunday night ‘s Premier League clash saw Guardiola’s Citizens share the spoils with league counterparts, Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.
Alluding to the modern scuffle between both northwest England teams- the ”Northwest rivalry”, the gaffer insisted he has no close alliance with Klopp.
The 51 -year-old, however stated he undebatably has a lot of admiration for his fellow coach, claiming the latter made him a better manager.
Speaking in a post-match interview after Etihad stadium’s pitched battle, the sportsman expressed optimism his side would edge out the Reds in the FA Cup semi-final billed for next weekend.
“I don’t know if Jurgen respects me but Jurgen has to know I respect him a lot. He has made me a better manager.
His team is always there, they are always aggressive.
We are not friends, we never see each other, I have his number but I don’t call him.
I have respect for him, but he knows next Saturday [in the FA Cup semi-final] I am going to try and beat him.”
