Following a Court of Appeal ruling, Emir Sanusi II calls for peace in Kano and warns against provocations aimed at disrupting the state’s harmony. He affirms that any plot to ignite unrest will backfire on those involved.

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has made a passionate appeal to residents of the state to maintain peace and unity, warning that anyone attempting to spark chaos will face divine retribution.

This appeal comes in the wake of a Court of Appeal verdict affirming that the Federal High Court lacked jurisdiction over matters concerning the Kano Emirate. Addressing the public in a viral video, Emir Sanusi expressed relief at the judgment while highlighting the peace that has been maintained in the state despite numerous provocations.

The Court of Appeal’s decision upholds Emir Sanusi’s position in an ongoing legal dispute, dismissing claims of jurisdiction by the Federal High Court. According to the monarch, those who initiated the legal proceedings were aware of the court’s limitations but pursued the case to serve their personal interests.

“Even the judge who issued the initial order was aware of the limits of his jurisdiction. Yet, for eight months, they sought to provoke unrest in the state,” Emir Sanusi stated.

Emir Sanusi emphasized that the peace of Kano is paramount and urged residents to resist any attempts to provoke disorder. “This battle is not ours but God’s. Whoever seeks to ignite chaos in Kano, may that fire consume them instead,” he declared.

He reiterated the importance of maintaining calm and refraining from engaging with those seeking to disrupt the state’s harmony. “To those who wish harm upon Kano or its peace, may they face the consequences of their own wishes. Let us keep praying for God’s guidance and intervention,” the monarch added.

The Emir praised Kano residents for upholding peace during the contentious legal proceedings, emphasizing that the city has remained a bastion of stability. He called on stakeholders to continue fostering unity and to trust in divine justice.

With this bold statement, Emir Sanusi has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring peace and unity in Kano while warning against actions that could destabilize the region.
