The Football Association (FA) has revealed why England will boycott the forthcoming World Cup and other matches at all levels against Russia.
The football governing body of England and the Crown dependencies, in a statement disclosed that the United Kingdom’s constituent country will not play Russia in Qatar or in other games “for the foreseeable future”.
This is in the face of Russia’s invasion of her neighbours, Ukraine that has left chaos and uncertainty.
The FA added that the decision has been made “out of solidarity with Ukraine and to wholeheartedly condemn the atrocities being committed by the Russian leadership”.
England joins Poland, Poland, Sweden and Czech Republic in a bid to oppose Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, meaning Russia could experience football drought following the turn-out of events.
