10th ASSEMBLY: Why Abia LP Rep. Members- Elect Are Supporting APC NASS Zoning | SEE THEIR REASONS
As the 10th National Assembly warms up for its inauguration in few days time, quite a number of the Abia State Labour Party Honorable members elect has said they are in support of the APC National Assembly zoning list.
They disclosed this during the inauguration of the Abia State governorship elect, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, of the Labour Party as the 5th civilian Governor of Abia state.
The APC NWC had adopted Senators Godswill Akpabio and Barau Jibrin for Senate President and Deputy Senate President, while it also adopted Tajudeen Abbas and Ben Kalu for the House Speakership and deputy respectively.
Speaking with ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER (AFNEWS) Correspondent, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, member-elect for Isialangwa North/South Federal Constituency, Hon. Amaobi Ogah Godswin, member-elect, Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency, and Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, member-elect, Arochukwu/ Ohafia federal constituency, individually said that they are in support of the zoning method of the ruling party, especially because Hon. Ben Kalu (APC) made it to the list.
Meanwhile, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the current Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Media and Public Affairs, had on Thursday officially declared his ambition to be Speaker of the House in the coming 10th National Assembly.
Kalu, who has been re-elected for a second term, will be the only All Progressives Congress from Abia State in the 10th House after the political tsunami created by the Labour Party in Abia in the 2023 general elections.
Ginger said “ for speakership, we are rooting for Tajudeen Abbas, all of us from Abia because the permutation is favorable to us. The National leadership made the right choice.
“They considered credibility, they considered capacity, capability and they chose one of our own, art Hon Ben Kalu, to be the deputy speaker. So you can see we don’t have option”.
Speaking also, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa said; “There are many candidates that are worthy of the office. I have a brother from Abia that is also running to be our deputy speaker and that is my number one head nod. Why because he is my neighbor. So it is important .
“Every candidate has a fair chance. We will work with anybody. And by the Grace of God, the leadership that will aid and produce my brother, is what I am rooting for”.
Also lending his voice, Hon. Amobi Oga said; “I am rooting for TJ Abbas, he is a calm man, very intelligent, a man of character, a man of capacity and a man of simplicity. With our brother, Benjamin Kalu, we are supporting them. We are giving them our best, because the best is what we want in 10th Assembly”.
