The defection ceremony, which was held at Nworgu’s country home in Owaza, attracted a massive turnout of party faithful, supporters, and stakeholders from Ipu West Ward and other parts of Ukwa West Local Government Area.

Speaking at the occasion, Nworgu said he was influenced to join the LP by the developmental strides of the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti.

He commended the Otti  administration for its determination to transform the socio-political and economic landscape of Abia State, noting that it had become a thing of joy to associate with the State.

He expressed optimism that with the number of people that have continued tojoin the LP in Ukwa West, victory was assured for the party in 2027, stressing that his defection was aimed at supporting other party leaders to strengthen the party and improve its chances of winning elections.

The professional valuer, who declared his intention to contest for the Ukwa West State Constituency seat in the Abia State House of Assembly, also pledged his commitment to the growth, expansion, and success of the party in Abia State.

In his remarks, a Chieftain of the LP, Engr. Adinigwe Nwoke noted with delight that the party has continued to increase in leaps and bounds, adding that more political heavyweights would join the party soon. He urged party members to ensure that they win in their various polling units during the next general elections.

The event was marked by celebration and fanfare, with several dancing groups entertaining the crowd while singing the praises of the former APC House of Representatives candidate as he formally joined the Labour Party.

Prominent among those that attended the event were the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, Ukwa LP Chairman, Apostle I. O. Dike, Abia Arise Coordinator, Ukwa West chapter, Hon. Ndukauba Adiele, Dr. Lucky Nkem Eleogu, Chief Uche Okeke, among others.
