The political landscape in Umuahia Urban Ward 3 is getting more charged as members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA were attacked by People’s Democratic Party faithfuls during a rally yesterday.
AFN gathered that the campaign rally of APGA house of representatives’ candidate Comdr. MacDonald Ubah, which was supposed to hold at St. Michael’s Primary School was disrupted by PDP faithfuls purportedly led by the proprietor of Capital Supermarket, an Anambra Indigene based Umuahia.
The APGA faithfuls still left the St. Michael’s Primary School and went over to use the “Ama Onyekwere” ground, yet the PDP thugs and supports disrupted the campaign by pulling down the canopies, scattering the chairs.
Based on what was published on the social media handle of APGA House of representatives candidate for Ikwuano Umuahia Federal constituency, Comdr. MacDonald, he said “Today, the PDP thugs led by the young man who thinks he has inherited Umuahia and the WARD 3 Chairman of PDP blocked the venue of my WARD 3 rally that was supposed to hold at St Michaels Primary School premises.
This was after they usurped the venue;
“AMA ONYEKWERE” that was meant for the rally and locked up the gate, scattered the chairs/tables, chased the DJ and all the attendees to the rally away and pushed down the canopies meant for the rally.
Without sounding immodest, I want to remind everybody that I served the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the Armed Forces for 27 years and I am not supposed to be ridiculed by anybody in the course of my issue based campaigns within my would be Federal Constituency.
I refused to be intimidated and nobody has the monopoly if violence, to be fore warned is to be armed.”
According to the Campaign Director to Comdr McDonald, Mr. Ariwa Zuby, the matter has since been reported to the Police!
