Dominion Okoro, a 25 year old housemaid, has revealed why she killed the late mother of ex Edo state governor, Lucky Igbinedion.

The maid who was paraded on Tuesday, at the Edo State Police Command Headquarters in Benin, after she was arrested in her hometown in Calabar, Cross River state capital, said she used a stool to kill the 85 year old Maria Igbinedion.

Okoro who committed the act on December 2, said she made away with a sum of N100,000, and some jewelries belonging to the deceased who was buried on December 10, 2021.

“I killed mama to carry her money. She did not offend me. While she was sleeping on her bed, around 12.01am on December 2, 2021, I used a stool to hit her in the head and she shouted for help; but only the gate man was around and he did not hear the shout. Mama later died.

“I waited till 4am on December 2, 2021, before leaving the house with mama’s N100,000, wristwatch and jewelry. I escaped to Cross River State, but I was later arrested by the police” the suspect narrated.

The State Commissioner of Police, Phillip Ogbadu, said they finally nabbed the real suspect after about 20 persons were arrested in connection with the murder.

He noted that all the suspects would be charged to court.
