Two Nigerian youths seeking employment allegedly poisoned their fellow job applicants during an interview, Femi Fani-Kayode said.
The former minister of aviation didn’t give details of the said incident, but stressed that the shocking nature of the news story goes on to demonstrate how Nigerian youths are “their own worse enemies”.
The 60-year-old lawyer shared the development on his Twitter page, saying that the hiring firm placed an advert that needed just three people. Two hundred Nigerians applied, he said.
A total of 50 persons were initially shortlisted, and then 10 were later picked for the final stage of the selection process. Of the number, two attempted to terminate the lives of others so as to increase their chances of getting the job, the former minister said.
Writing on Monday, June 21, Fani-Kayode said: “I am convinced that this generation of Nigerian youths are their own worse enemies. It is pitiful. They need to spend their resources & energy into trying to come together rather than to undermine & denigrate one another. Some of the things I have seen & heard are shocking.
“We had slots for 3 jobs for youths. 200 graduates applied for those three jobs. After 50 were shortlisted 10 were chosen for interviews. They all came. 2 out of the 10 attempted to kill one another with poison in order to increase their chances of getting one of the 3 slots!”
In reaction, @Enestcart said: “And this gave you a very good reason or backup to include all the youths? Nah!! We’re more than that! You’ll get to understand this in a very few years to now. We’re more than what you can ever imagine. We’re undisputed our energy is unmatched! Get a popcorn.”
@obiafuruaku added: “You created the mess by providing 3 slots for 200 people. What were you expecting? You actually knew what you were doing and you got the result you expected. Can’t blame the youth! That’s survival instinct at play.”
@aremsbee said: “Is this story real? Graduates trying to kill one another with poison for of a job? I have never witness such in my life! The situation desperate for the youth!”
