A radio presenter, Zainab Fakunel, who got laid off from her job because of the “R” factor in her pronunciation, has landed a new job.
An “R” factor (rhotacism) in speech is the inability to pronounce the letter “R” properly. Some non-native speakers of the English Language who have the disorder tend to swap “R” for “L” or vice versa.
Zainab announced in May 2022 that she was sacked after one month of being on the job due to her inability to control the factor.
The new job she got is with Fresh FM, Lagos, and she has taken to social media to celebrate with her fans.
She wrote:
“I was crushed, I stood up for myself, yet I got knocked by many people, but I was undeterred and finally God in his mercies have vindicated me! I got a new job! Yesss with the biggest radio brand in the Southwest FRESH FM LAGOS, FRESH FM NIGERIA. I lost my job when Ramadan was about to end and I got a BETTER one before EID-KABIR. God finally vindicated me I won’t take this love for granted to all Radio stations, TV stations, bloggers, family & friends I can’t thank you enough.”
