Police Detains Ibeku Community Leader ‘Michael Nwachukwu’, Over attack on Neighboring Community in Umuahia
The Police authorities at the Central Police Station (CPS) Umuahia has detained Mr Michael Nwachukwu, the Community Vice Chairman of Avonkwu Ibeku in Umuahia North Local Government Area in connection with the destruction of Houses, Car and using of dangerous weapons on some women at Umuhu Ajata, Umuahia North Local Government Area.
It was gathered that the attack on Engr Orji Obinna and Family was not the first as in 2002, the people of Avonkwu led a dangerous attack on same family, burnt their house and rendered them homeless over a community Land which has already been settled by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Mr Michael Nwachukwu who happens to be Labour Party (LP) Ward Chairman for Ibeku West allegedly led the Youths numbering more than 50 this morning to attack the Family of Engr Orji whom they accuse of allegedly stopping a Rural grading by the Mayor Of Umuahia North Local Government Area Chief Victor Ikeji.
When contacted, the Member Representing Umuahia East State Constituency who is also the Deputy Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly Rt Hon Austin Okezie said he is not in support of destruction of properties as he voted to collaborate with the Police to get to the root of the matter.
