EXCLUSIVE: Otti Set To Inaugurate Abia State Orientation Agency, As DG Reveals Task Ahead | WATCH VIDEO

The Executive governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, OFR will on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 commission the State’s Orientation Agency established since 2020 by the state House of Assembly.

This was disclosed by the Director General, Abia State Orientation Agency, Pastor Dike Nwankwo during ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER (AFNEWS) Programme “Focal Point”.

According to the DG, the Agency has existed only on paper since its establishment without any office nor staff.  However, governor Alex Otti, has decided to bring the Agency to life as he has approved for the acquisition of a new office structure for the Agency.

“We are building from nothing. The Abia State Orientation Agency was established by Law 2, 2020 of the State House of Assembly and after that, nothing was done. It was just on paper; no office, no staff, nothing.

“Apparently, it means that those who established it didn’t have need for it; probably somebody just sold the idea to them, they tried to push it and it became a law but when His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti came onboard, he saw the need to bring it back to life”.

“I didn’t inherit any staff; I didn’t see any structure but because of His Excellency’s interest, he has approved to acquire a brand new office space which will house the Agency with all her activities” Pastor Nwankwo revealed.

He noted that governor Otti saw that it is important that the Abians gets re-orientated to change their mindsets and get the new crop of people needed for the envisioned development of “the new Abia.”

According to Nwankwo, the Orientation Agency will serve as a bridge between the government and Abians who would have the opportunity to lay their complaints, needs and challenges through the Agency which will in turn, relay them to the government for remedy.

“Most times, when government come up with policies, people don’t get to understand what the government is saying, but this government is doing something better, by driving that message down to the people.

“The essence of the Agency is to ensure that the people buy into what the government is doing , that way, policies yield better results” he said.

Nwankwo revealed that orientations and workshops would be carried out for Abians and civil servants to change their mindsets and attitudes to dumping of refuse and work respectively.

He added that the governor also approved 184 ward orientation officers, LGA coordinators, among others, to ensure that government’s policies are properly driven down to the people.

“There are so many ways of interventions that only the Agency can drive like waste management. People dump waste anywhere and anyhow they want.

“This Agency is going to collaborate other ministries, departments and agencies in projecting, canvasing and ensuring that the right messages are passed” he added.

Nwankwo expressed optimism that with the policies and ideas of governor Otti, Abia state will wear a new look in the next two years.
