Otti Reacts To Ikpeazu’s Sudden Promotion Of Abia Workers | WATCH VIDEO
The sudden decision by the Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to pay leave allowances to civil servants and promote Local Government workers have continued to generate different reactions from Abians and Nigerians at large with some speculating that the governor’s move is a strategy to curry the vote of Abians as the governorship election approaches.
Governor Ikpeazu on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, approved One Grade Level Command Promotion for Local Government workers and civil servants in the state and also directed that Leave Allowances be paid to workers within 7 days.
Ikpeazu charged the workers to vote for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Okey Ahiwe, assuring that he will implement his directives and even do better than he (Ikpeazu) has done.
Reacting to the governor’s gesture to civil servants, the Labour Party governorship candidate in Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti said governor Ikpeazu’s directives is a fraudulent exercise and advised the workers and Abians entirely not to buy into it.
Otti while featuring on Arise TV’s ‘Morning Show’ on Friday, queried why Ikpeazu’s administration could not pay salaries and pension, help businesses grow in the state or even clean up the environment despite the Internally Generated Revenue cum federal allocations which comes into the state in billions.
“Abia debt profile rose from N34.5billion in 2015 to N190billion currently. This government has been very irresponsible with it’s borrowing.
“If you visit Aba, it is like a garbage yard but we will create a ministry in Aba as soon as I am sworn in to rebuild Aba.
“We will first, build underground tunnel from Ariaria to waterside before we start construction of roads to ensure that they are durable” he said.
Otti noted that he has the capacity, competence and connections to create jobs for 51% of Abians who are currently unemployed, create wealth, boost the economy to attract investors into Abia and also clear all outstanding salaries and pensions among others.
“It is going to be a tough job, but I can tell you that I am very capable for the job. I have the capacity and the connections” he expressed.
The governorship hopeful expressed confidence that Abians will vote him en masse on March 18th to win the governorship election so he can implement his plans for the growth of Abians and the state.
He called on oppositions to play by the rule at the polls and shun all form of thuggery, violence and intimidation.
“85% of Abia people are with me. PDP and others need to play by the rule. Nobody is going to tolerate all these things they do. We will not tolerate any form of intimidation from PDP or other political parties” Otti warned.
