Reactions is still trailing the open letter written by former Abia State Attorney General Umeh Kalu SAN to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and published by ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER. In this current reaction, Aides to Abia State Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu have advised Abians to ignore Umeh Kalu SAN.
They queried the sincerity behind the letter and asked why Umeh Kalu SAN did not resign from office which he occupied for over 10 years after all the observation he stated in his letter.
READ FULL LETTER BELOW:
Chief Umeh Kalu should be ignored
The attention of the Body of Special Advisers and Assistants to the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, has been drawn to an open letter to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu by the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Abia State, Chief Umeh Kalu.
In the ill-fated open letter, Kalu clearly danced naked in the market as he went on indicting himself on most of the issues he raised in his open letter.
It is shameful that Umeh Kalu who served the state at different times, as Special Adviser (Legal) and Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice from 2007 to 2019, could write such an open letter making all sorts of allegations when he never disclosed that he made any attempt to reach out to the Governor, but was snubbed.
How come Umeh Kalu did not resign from office while he was enjoying the perks of office but sat tight until he was removed? Could Umeh Kalu have written his open letter if he was considered for another position? The answer is No. Most of Umeh’s colleagues who were not retained as commissioners have been loyal to the course of the state and supporting the Governor to consolidate on his achievements. But Kalu prefers rocking the boat. He must be appointed to one government position or the other or the state will not know peace.
We know that Kalu has joined the gang of aggrieved politicians since he was sacked for incompetence. What legacy did he leave in office as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice? How many youths of his ‘native’ Okagwe community did he empower while in office? As a man who is not in tune with what is happening in the state, Kalu is not aware that the Nkporo – Abiriba road has been completed and commissioned. He is also not aware that the Nkporo Cottage Hospital has been completed and commissioned by Governor Ikpeazu.
Kalu’s anger is that the PDP did not choose him as a running mate to Governor Ikpeazu in the 2019 governorship poll. He has not forgiven the governor and the party. The PDP could not have abandoned a loyal and hardworking Deputy Governor, Sir Oko Chukwu for Kalu who could not have added any value to the ticket. No political party seeking victory would have fielded the former Commissioner as running mate in place of the more experienced and humbler Deputy Governor. Thank God the wisdom of the PDP paid off in rejecting a blackmailer like Kalu.
His attempt to incite hatred among the people of the state has also been well noted. Since Kalu hardly visits home, Abia can burn while he and his family enjoy themselves in Abuja.
As a man who has no electoral value, Kalu has never won his polling unit in his native Okagwe community because he has always been a stranger to his people.
He has twice contested for the Arochukwu/ Ohafia federal constituency seat, but lost woefully.
Now, as an APC chieftain who is not even reckoned with by his new party, of what political advantage will his so-called advice achieve for him? Kalu also feels he can become relevant by attacking Ikpeazu.
2023 is around the corner, politicians with nAbia State Deputy Governor – Rt. Hon. Ude Okochukwuo home support like him are at it again on their wild goose chase. Ikpeazu has never claimed to have solved all the problems of the state, but he has shown the zeal and determination to make a difference in governance.
The Governor will not be distracted by the tantrums of failed politicians like the former Commissioner. Ikpeazu is focused on delivering on his campaign promises and has vowed to complete all projects started by his administration. Abia has made progress and will continue to do so. The likes of Kalu can only whine in disappointment.

On behalf of the Body of Special Advisers and Special Assistants to the Deputy Governor
