OGBOR HILL ACCIDENT: Only One Life Was Lost – Abia Govt Clarifies, Visits Hospitalised Victims

The Abia State government has clarified that only one life was lost at the Tuesday tragic accident at the water side axis of Ogbor Hill Aba, the commercial city of the state.

This was disclosed on Wednesday, when governor Alex Otti, represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba PhD, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma and the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Mr. Dodoh Okafor visited victims of the accident at different hospitals in Aba, including the Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH).

The Governor sympatized with the accident victims and thanked God for saving their lives. He promised that the government would take care of the bills of all the injured victims and would also assist them financially even as they recuperate.

The government also ensured that some patients were transferred to where they would receive better medical care.

“Let it be clear that we lost only one person in the accident, contrary to the different false figures being quoted on social media. Government is also in touch with the family of the dead victim and is making the necessary arrangements to assist them bury him” Ajagba said.

The Abia state government restated that it has set up road safety measures to prevent future occurrences which includes, constituting a task-force to ensure that only vehicles, especially heavy duty trucks that are road worthy would henceforth ply Abia roads and that such vehicles must observe all safety rules; that all broken down vehicles on Abia roads are immediately removed; all heavy duty trucks are only allowed to ply Abia roads between 8pm to 6:30 am.
