That was the emphatic declaration of the Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Obi Aguocha, as he threw his full weight behind Governor Alex Otti, signaling a strong political stance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interaction with a cross section of media professionals , Aguocha dismissed suggestions that the governorship seat in Abia State is open for contest, insisting that the current administration has earned the confidence and continued support of the people.
While acknowledging that individuals such as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu has the constitutional right to aspire to any office, he maintained that the political reality on ground reflects overwhelming support for Governor Otti.
“We backed our position with action,” Aguocha stated, referencing the recent rally held by the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia, where the governor received a resounding endorsement.
Beyond politics, the lawmaker used the opportunity to highlight what he described as his key achievements at the National Assembly, particularly in the area of education empowerment.
According to him, his approach to empowerment is focused on long-term impact rather than short-term gestures, revealing that he currently supports over 700 students across various tertiary institutions.
“I prefer lifetime empowerment to one-off empowerment,” he said, stressing that investment in education remains the most sustainable path to development.
Aguocha also emphasized his role in advocacy, noting his efforts in defending the rights of Nigerians affected by the cancellation of certificates obtained from institutions in the Benin Republic.
He disclosed that his intervention helped bring attention to the issue, attracting support from fellow lawmakers and contributing to ongoing efforts toward resolution.
On matters of justice and human rights, the lawmaker reaffirmed his unwavering position on the case of Nnamdi Kanu, describing advocacy as a responsibility he has consistently upheld even before joining the National Assembly.
He stated that Kanu, being his constituent, deserves representation and a voice, adding that he remains committed to speaking up regardless of political consequences.
“I know what I am losing by taking this stand, but I will not stop. Even if I am no longer in the House, I will continue to speak,” Aguocha declared.
Addressing speculations about his affiliation, the lawmaker clarified that he is not a member of IPOB, while also rejecting the classification of the group as terrorists, instead pointing to broader security challenges across the country.
On the issue of 2027 elections, Aguocha welcomed all aspirants seeking to contest his seat, expressing confidence in his track record and electoral strength.
“When I first ran, I had no record. Now I do. Let others come with theirs,” he said, adding that he is confident of victory for himself, his party, and the state leadership.
He also highlighted developments within his constituency, particularly in Ohuhu, noting improvements in road infrastructure and ongoing plans for further projects after the rainy season.
In addition, he revealed his role in co-sponsoring a bill aimed at transforming Michael Okpara University of Agriculture into a conventional university, a move he described as a major educational advancement for the region.
Observers say Aguocha’s strong endorsement of Governor Otti and his assertive political messaging reflect growing alignment within key political structures in Abia State as the countdown to 2027 intensifies.
