The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), has revealed the most common reasons why customers data exhaust almost immediately after subscribing.
According to the NCC, the common causes of data exhaustion are;
- DOWNLOAD AND UPLOAD OF MEDIA FILES:
Download and upload of pictures, documents, videos and other forms of electronic media contribute greatly to data depletion, especially on mobile devices- the larger the file, the more the data consumption.
- INTERNET BROWSING:
Websites do not have an equal effect on your data consumption; the more pictures, videos or graphics on the websites visited, the more the data that is used.
- INSTANT MESSAGING:
Your WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, and other Instant Messaging apps deplete your internet data to the degree to which you utilize them.
- STREAMING:
This is one of the most common causes of data depletion, streaming video and audio content on YouTube, Hulu, Netflix and other channels can quickly consume your data within very short periods of time.
- ONLINE GAMING:
Games use a lot more data than most people imagine due to the intense graphics and algorithms that power them.
- SOCIAL MEDIA APPS:
Social media applications such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram are constantly engaged in upload and download in real-time. This constitutes a huge opportunity for data depletion.
- VIDEO CONFERENCING:
Videos are usually a heavy media format to transmit, and so online conferencing and internet calls often consume huge data when a video stream is being used. Applications like Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp Video, etc, are some commonly used video conferencing tools.
