The Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC), has re-stated its support for Nigeria’s Digital Transformation.
Professor Umar Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman, NCC, made this known in a speech to mark the 14th World Telecommunication and Information Society Day(WTISD), with the theme: “Accelerating Digital Transformation in Challenging Times”.
Danbatta said, the arrival of COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the urgency of digital transformation and advancing the goals and target of Connect 2030 Agenda of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), adding, that Nigeria through the NCC has been actively involved in commemorating the day.
He noted that throughout the year, the NCC has actively marked the WTISD through national, regional, continental and international initiatives.
The WTISD is celebrated annually on May 17 to commemorate the founding of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in 1865.
The 2021 WTISD provides a unique opportunity for International Communication Union (ITU) members to continue in their quest for an accelerated digital transformation agenda that is all-encompassing, by promoting national strategies on ICT development across the world.
