Lagos Resident Demands N253,168 Refund from Dana Air after Services Suspension
Lucky Imhenrion, an operational director living in Lagos, has joined the list of customers whose refunds are trapped with Dana Air after the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) suspended their services in April.
Speaking with the press on Thursday, Imhenrion said he bought round tickets for himself and another person named Joy Asue on April 22 but, three days later, the airline cancelled their flights.
He explained that, after the cancellation, he sent several messages to the airline through different communication channels without success. He added that the ban on the airline’s operations plunged him into debt as he hasn’t repaid the funds he borrowed to finance the alternative trip he arranged.
“The withheld N253,168 has caused me discomfort because I had to borrow money from friends and family to find alternative means of travelling,” Imhenrion told the press .
“However, I haven’t been able to return the loan because Dana Air hasn’t refunded me.
“I have tried to reach them on all social media platforms but I have no response from them, even the mail I sent to them did not deliver.”
The press has published several cases of withheld refunds by the airline. In one of the reports, the airline still holds on to a software designer’s N231,000 more than four months after his flight was cancelled.
In another report, Adedamola Kazeem, a civil servant based in Abuja, told the press that the airline had been ignoring his request for his N129,600 refund since the ban.
The press understands that the timeframe given by the NCAA for the airline to clear its backlog of refunds elapses this week. While they have started to refund some customers, several others have complained about not receiving their money.
An email and text message the press sent to Dana Air on Thursday is yet to be responded to. A message was also sent to their official WhatsApp line, and a response has yet to be received.
