LOAN: EaseMoni Phoned Pharmacist Repeatedly. His Boss Queried Him for Answering Instead of Working
Sydney Chukwukelu, a pharmacist in Lagos, has detailed how he got queried at his new job due to constant calls from EaseMoni, an online loan company, on new offers for old customers.
Chukwukelu told The Press that EaseMoni called him repeatedly in August and said he had to start begging them via emails to desist from making him miserable with their calls, but they did not relent.
He said the frequency of calls between August 13 and August 24 became so consistent that his boss issued him a query for lacking concentration during Zoom meetings.
“The matter is annoying because EaseMoni did not stop disturbing my lines with calls. I work a lot on the computer. During meetings, they call me, and it slows down my data or disconnects the conference calls. They keep on asking why I abruptly leave and rejoin online meetings, but I have no excuses,” Chukwukelu told The Press on Wednesday.

“When their calls did not stop, it led me into conflict at my place of work. I got queried. I have begged them in several emails to stop, but they said I have no choice because I am registered with them and that they have to update me about their new plans.”
Chukwukelu said that his problem with EaseMoni started in April after he took a loan from them. Although he repaid the loan on time and took two more loans, which he paid on time, they would not stop barraging him with calls.
When The Press called EaseMoni on Thursday, a representative admitted that the calls could be overbearing. The representative said it was also a part of what their marketing team did. She then said the management would do something about it.
