A security breach which occurred on the early hours of Monday 7th September, 2020 at a bus stop around Okagwe Junction, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State has claimed the live of a police inspectors while four other police officers sustained injuries that has kept them in critical conditions battling for their lives. This is based on a press release made available to AFNEWS and signed by Abia State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu.
According to preliminary investigation by the Abia State government, the incident was orchestrated by a gang of about twelve yet to be identified hoodlums who suddenly attacked five Pollce officers who were taking cover in a security pindown point located at a bus stop around Okagwe Junction, Ohafia, during a heavy downpour in the early hours of Monday, September 7, 2020 .
According to the press release ,the hoodlums killed one of the police Inspectors while critically injuring the other four who are now receiving treatment at a medical facility in the state.
However in a swift reaction ,the Abia State Government, in conjunction with security agencies in the state, are currently investigating this security breach which occurred on Monday, September 7, 2020, at Ohafia Local Government Area of the state which led to the death of one police officer and left four others injured. “The state government has also adviced all medical facilities in the state to report any patient who presents a gunshot injuries to the nearest police station or the relevant Transition Council Chairman even while treating such a patient”.
The government also called on all law abiding citizens to go about their normal duties without fear or apprehension as the government of Abia has taken measures to protect them as well as apprehend the hoodlums as quickly as possible.
The Abia State government also sympathize with the family of demised officers..The government said it’s thoughts are with the family and friends of the late gallant officer who lost his life in the course of service to fatherland..The government also prayed for the quick and total recovery of the injured officers.
