A non-governmental organisation that operates under the umbrella of Abia Youth Initiatives, AYI, has said that the time is ripe for Abians to elect a youth like Mayor Lucky Igbokwe (Don Lulu) as governor of Abia State as a marked departure from the old generation leadership which lacks creative thinking.
In a press statement issued in Umuahia the Abia State capital after its emergency Exco meeting, the youth group insists that Abians deserve a young, vibrant and focused politician who understands the connection between youth development with economic development.
The statement which was signed by chairman and secretary, comrade Nnamdi Nweke and Stanley Nwokocha respectively, pledged to mobilise massive support for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, in solidarity with the youths whose future is at risk, not only in Abia State but Nigerian in general.
According to the statement, Abia state can’t continue to recycle the old brigade and expect to make any meaningful progress, adding that it has become imperative that the Abia people elect a pragmatic and visionary leader in the person of Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, who has invested heavily on the youths to continue to provide equal opportunities to all.
The group advocated for ‘Youthocracy’ which is government of the people by the youths and for the people, saying that Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, is greatly concerned about the welfare of the youths and has through the Don Lulu Foundation empowered thousands of rural women and youths.
Mayor Lucky Igbokwe is a United Nations Peace Ambassador and Chief Executive Officer of 2Flame Entertainment, a multimillion-naira showbiz outfit. Through the Don Lulu Foundation, he has been able to empower many Abia citizens as well as assist in education through its back to school campaign.
