I wish to thank you immensely through this medium I pray God Almighty Lord to bless and reward each and every one of you abundantly.
Last Saturday, 2nd October, 2019, the Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri dismissed our Appeal for a rerun in ABSU and three other polling units where elections did not hold or were cancelled for no fault of ours and where about 7,850 of our constituents were disenfranchised to make their choice of the candidate to represent them in the Federal House in 2019.
The Appeal court ruled that we failed to get our supporters amongst that large numbers of disenfranchised voters to say they would have voted for us during the hearing at the lower tribunal in Umuahia whose earlier judgment we had appealed against.
That number is far higher than the margin of lead of the winner INEC announced during the February 22nd National Assembly elections of 2019, making us contest the declaration of a winner by INEC in that election as stipulated by the electoral act.
Even though we see the ruling of the Court of Appeal as not practicable, we have no choice than to accept the verdict of the respected Jurists and urge all our members and supporters to accept the verdict also in good faith and with hope that Nigeria will get better tomorrow.
As a Democrat and as member of the largest Democratic Party in Africa, I wish to let our members know and accept that our quest to represent our people in the Federal House in 2019 has ended with that judgment of Saturday at Owerri. And as a result all manners of campaign on my behalf should cease henceforth.
Honourable Nkeiru Onyejeocha, our sister, our daughter, our mother and our friend, remains the Elected Federal House Member for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency and should be accorded the honour, respect and dignity of that position whether she is present or absent in our Constituency or in any other forum.
Elections are over and we must build bridges to move our communities, state and Nigeria forward. She remains our collective voice at the National Assembly and for all national discuss in that hallowed lower Chambers.
And as a principal officer, the deputy chief whip, we believe our voices will be loudly heard and our share of the national cake be larger and richer if we lend her our support, ideas and advocacy.
Once again I advise us to remain happy and joyful for God’s time is the best. Omnia in bonum.
All things for Good. We thank God for everything. May God bless each and everyone of us. Amen!
