House Of Reps Constitutes Ad-hoc Committees, Adjourns Till July 2023
The House of Representatives has adjourned its plenary session till July 4th 2023.
Information gathered from the House chambers said the adjournment will allow members to be allocated offices, adding that such has been a practice in the parliament.
The speaker, Hon.Abbas Tajudeen who made the announcement before the end of plenary wished members well as they went on break.
It would be recalled that the incumbent 10th National Assembly was inaugurated on Tuesday last week shortly after a keenly contested election that saw Hon Abbas emerged as the Speaker while Hon Ben Kalu became the Deputy speaker.
The speaker had earlier in the day constituted seven Ad-hoc Committees to oversees the affairs and these includes; selection Committee to be chaired by himself,the Media committee headed by Hon.Buka Abba Ibrahim, Legislative Agenda Committee lead by Prof Julius Ihonvbare amongst others.
Other committees according to the speaker, include: the Internal Security Committee, Rules and Business Committee, Welfare Committee as well as the Ethics and Privileges Committee
Meanwhile, shortly after plenary yesterday, the Speaker had led other members of the House to an inspection tour of the ongoing project within the National Assembly.
