Hotel Cancels Edo Deputy Gov, Shuaibu’s Reservation, Refunds Money | READ WHY
The deputy governor of Edo State, Philip Shuaibu, over the weekend, had his hotel reservation cancelled and money refunded by the Eterno Hotels management, less than 24 hours to the formal declaration of his governorship ambition.
Shuaibu had reserved a space at the hotel, said to be owned by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benin, the state capital for his declaration on Monday.
Sources said Shaibu was contacted by the management of the hotel that the space was no longer available for his use while his money was refunded, as another group (‘Obaseki finishing well group’) had paid for the same venue.
“We found this very preposterous that we were contacted by the hotel management that a group had paid for the same venue for a programme slated for 7 a.m. same date.
“We know where this is coming from. Whatever their plans to frustrate our declaration will definitely fail. They are jittery over Shaibu’s declaration and popularity” one of Shuaibu’s aide stated.
Shuaibu’s declaration was billed to hold today at the Eterno Hotels, by 8 am.
Recall that Shuaibu has been having quarrels with his principal, governor Godwin Obaseki who is against Shuaibu’s governorship ambition.
