Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has dismissed fake reports on new cabinet nominees, emphasizing his sole authority to choose a competent team. The Governor plans to submit the authentic list next week, ensuring a strong foundation for Akwa Ibom’s future.
In a decisive move to strengthen governance and advance the development of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Umo Eno has dismissed circulating lists of purported cabinet nominees as fake. The Governor emphasized his exclusive authority to appoint a new state executive council, pledging to unveil the authentic list next week for clearance by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
This announcement followed the dissolution of the foundational cabinet, which had served diligently for 20 months since Governor Eno assumed office. The farewell dinner held in Uyo on Friday night was both an emotional and celebratory occasion as the outgoing cabinet members unanimously moved for the dissolution of their team.
“Anyone desperate to make the new cabinet who has pushed persons of influence to recommend them has lost their chance. My phone lines are switched off, and they will remain so until the authentic list is submitted next week.”
He warned stakeholders against lobbying for appointments, asserting that decisions would be made solely based on competence and loyalty to the ARISE Agenda, a blueprint for the state’s development.
The Governor outlined his ambitious plans for the incoming cabinet, highlighting the upcoming flag-off of 31 new projects across the state by the end of March. He reminded prospective appointees that the role demands commitment and hard work, stating, “It will not be a time for jokes or play.”
Reflecting on the achievements of the outgoing cabinet, Governor Eno lauded their contributions to the success of the ARISE Agenda, describing them as the backbone of the administration’s accomplishments.
Governor Eno expressed deep gratitude to the outgoing team, saying:
“They’ve served the state diligently, making the ARISE Agenda a success. While this current service may have ended, it signals the beginning of other layers of service.”
He assured the outgoing members that they remain valued colleagues and expressed optimism about their future contributions to the state and nation.
The reshuffle marks a pivotal moment in Governor Eno’s administration, setting the stage for a more dynamic and result-oriented government poised to elevate Akwa Ibom to new heights.
