The Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu Prof Gregory Ibe has charged Muslims to use the holy period of Eid el Maulud to intercede for restoration of peace in all parts of Nigeria.
In a solidarity message to commemorate the annual celebration of the birthday of the Islamic Prophet Muhammed, Prof Ibe, while felicitating the Muslim Ummah, urged them to fervently pray to Allah for complete healing of Nigeria.
According to him, Firstly, I join good spirited people all over the world in congratulating our Muslim brothers as they celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammed, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. However, against the backdrop of the recent spate of violence and general insecurity in different parts of Nigeria, I encourage the Muslim Ummah to use the holy season for concerted prayers to Allah coveting the restoration of tranquility and assurance of healing for our nation.
Turning to the Abia Muslim community, Prof Ibe enjoined them to continue to pursue and ensure peace with all men, stressing that it is only in an environment of harmony that they can make progress in their different endeavors. He thereby encouraged them to feel at home in the state, reaffirming his willingness to sustain periodic interactions with them. In his words, To my Abia Muslim brothers, I once more join my Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu to charge you to sustain prayers for peace in our dear Gods Own State, while striving to maintain cordiality with your neighbors.
Meanwhile, like you know, my door remains open to you for periodic consultations, interactions and celebrations. Here is wishing all my Muslim brothers happy Eid el Maulud celebration.
