Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, has paid glowing tributes to the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, for donating two modular motorized fumigators to the State.
Receiving these items, the Secretary to Abia State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem, who represented the State Governor, lauded the vision of the Ooni for deploying modern technology in the fight against COVID-19, the common enemy of humanity at the moment.
The Abia SSG described the donation as a unique one that has gone beyond being a palliative, noting that these facilites could still be used post COVID-19 era.
Barr. Ezem who is also the Chairman of Abia State Interministerial Committee on COVID-19, used the occasion to describe the foremost traditional ruler as a highly focused king, a developer of uncommon pedigree and a man with deep insight who places great premium on the welfare of his people.
He went further to promise that the modular motorized fumigators would be put in good use use for the benefit of the people in the fight agsinst COVID-19 in the State.
Speaking earlier, the Ooni of Ife, represented by one of his aides, Mr. Ayoyemi Osunleye, who led a delegation, said he was in Abia State to donate 2 modular motorized fumigators that will assist the State Government as led by Dr Okezie Ikpeazu in the fight against COVID-19 in Abia.
He revealed that the Ooni assembled youths from his domain to put the modular motorized fumigators together, adding that the team copied copiously from the entrepreneurial spirit of Ndi-Igbo.
He equally said that the Ooni is assiduously working with some Universities and Research Centres to develop drugs that would be used to treat COVID-19 patients.
In her vote of thanks, Princess Fadekemi Fadojutimi, thanked Abia State Government for the warm reception accorded them saying it was indeed a pleasant experience for them.
Those also on the entourage of the Ooni’s delegation were Oba Awosunle Tokunbo Babatunde among others.
Abia State Head of Service, Sir Onyii Wamah, Permanent Secretaries and other top government officials were present during the presentation of the modular motorized fumigators.
